Catherine Deveny tells a little about the Atheist Conference

I don't need to say a lot about Catherine Deveny to introduce this article. She is well known and has a few simple lines you may find useful. Have a look.

I don't know what it is but

I don't know what it is but something just ticks me off about that woman. I will figure it out sooner or later. A lack of proper respect? Perhaps.

The thing that ticks me off

The thing that ticks me off about Catherine Deveny is that she has an inferiority complex. I knew that something was bugging me about her.

Same here. I saw her on Q&A

Same here. I saw her on Q&A and I felt she didn't have much of value to contribute. Maybe my expectations were too high.

That said, I thought the article was good.

Deveny is all about producing

Deveny is all about producing one liners. She doesn't seem to be able to write a coherent item of continuous prose. Maybe its the school system.

It's time Humanists/Atheists

It's time Humanists/Atheists raised the level of analytical discussion about Atheism to a new level. Dr Barns Wallace of -Lancaster bomber/R101 airship and spinning bomb - fame, was once quoted as sying "If you want to bring new insights into something it is best to know as little about it as possible".

Years ago there was a popular song by Peggy Lee which asked the question "Is that all there is?". So let's ask: is that all there is?

We know that Atheists/Humanists are usually people who have become disenchanted with the religion they were raised in, or belonged to. And not being able to find what they were looking for, or expected to find, they then concluded (logically) that religion was a big con.

Of course because there are so many of such disillusioned people - a by-product of religion - in the world, the opportunities have not gone unnoticed by the quick- buck merchants who are so eagerly taken on board by Atheists as being the pinnacles of truth and honesty.

I cannot profess to know much about Richard Dawkins, but it seems to me that his biggest acclaim has been in championing evolution over creationism, an easy mark if ever their was one. One thing that stands out to me as a newcomer to the field of Humanism is the lack of charlatans exposed in the Atheist world as they are in the world of religion.

I have this theory about why people become what they are? For instance why do people want to become policemen is it because they harbour some subconscious feeling of inadequacy and are attracted to the power and authority that the uniform gives them? Likewise with firemen. Teachers like the importance and authority the job gives them and so on.

So why do people become declared Atheists, they are certainly not unique? It is most likely that Atheists, or at least agnostics outnumber everyone else by about three to one, even in Islamic countries, except there they have to pretend by conforming to the oppressive rules forced upon them. Yet only a very small percentage of none (or doubtful) believers feel the need to join organisations to declare their non belief. So are Atheists just people who like to feel that they are wiser and so they have formed their own social club.

After all even though, as we see on these web pages, Atheists stridently defending their chosen none-belief with claims of how it is superior to religion, they will never admit that the path that they travel on is a very narrow one

Mona, Enter ye in at the

Mona,

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Love & Best Wishes,

Jesus H. Christ

Thank you Jesus I needed

Thank you Jesus I needed that.

I think the time has now come

I think the time has now come for there to be a formal surrender by the Atheists on this website. An acknowledgement that they have been punched around long enough and therefore the great referee in the sky should intervene and stop the carnage.

Jeff, you have been given

Jeff, you have been given several opportunities to show you have any ideas or arguments to support your beliefs and you have failed to even attempt to do so every time.
You now proceed to claim victory in a battle that never took place. We could compare you with a person too cowardly to get in the ring boasting that he had defeated one of the regular fighters.
Can you do anything better than make silly, snide remarks from the sidelines? Do you have any intellectual propositions at all? Put up or shut up.

At any rate, Mona, humanists

At any rate, Mona, humanists can be just as dogmatic as Christians, i.e., without having any actual dogmas.

Catherine Deveny is buggin',

Catherine Deveny is buggin', man.

The news is that Catherine

The news is that Catherine Deveny has been sacked as a columnist of the Age newspaper after she dissed Bindi Irwin at the Logies. Good job. There are some places where you don't go, now she can be all 'wild and wacky' at home where she belongs.

Bye, bye, Catherine Deveny, I

Bye, bye, Catherine Deveny, I can't say that I am sorry to see you go. As for your gerbil friend, she should go too.
